Mr. Asadullah, the Project Director of PRSWSSP, conducted a visit to oversee the ongoing construction works on Overhead Reservoir, Tubewells, and Sewerage Treatment Plants sites in three villages (Ghai, Makhiyal, and Gufanwala) of Tehsil Kallar Kahar. The project’s construction drawings, engineering estimates, Bill of Quantities, and contract agreement were examined in detail, and the work done against the specifications outlined in these documents was assessed. To check the quality and quantity of the executed work, various material testing reports, including tension tests of steel, concrete compressive strength tests, bricks, and slurry testing duly issued by UET Lahore Lab, were examined, and the test results were found to be above or at par with the required ASTM standards.
It was observed that the physical progress of the civil work was relatively slow compared to the time elapsed. The civil works contractor was directed to deploy additional resources to speed up the execution of the project. Furthermore, directions were given to the contractor to submit a detailed schedule outlining the progress to be achieved at ten-day intervals and to conduct yield tests on the drilled water wells to ensure they meet the project's water requirements. The consultant’s resident engineer was asked to ensure strict adherence to the project’s execution timelines, and no extension of time (EoT) would be granted without any plausible reason.
The contractor had expressed concerns about the challenges faced in executing the project due to difficult topography and terrain in project villages. To assess and address these concerns, the Project Director, along with the Chief Infrastructure Development, PRMSC Tehsil Team, Engineering Design, and Construction Supervision consultant, and contractor's staff, conducted a detailed street-by-street visit of the villages to agree on the most feasible and economical solution. The EDCS consultant was advised to incorporate the necessary amendments and issue updated engineering drawings within three working days. The PRMSC Tehsil staff was directed to work closely with the consultants and contractors to ensure the quality of work and the timely completion of the project.
